The Triumph group of Tulips are easy growing, best planted in full sun, with rich fertile well drained soil. Their long sturdy stems withstanding adverse weather conditions growing upto 45cm tall.

Ideally planted in the autumn time, late September to early December, plant the bulbs in groups for the best colourful effect come flowering time in mid to late spring. These easy growing bulbs can be grown in flower beds, boarders or containers.

Tulips are wonderful, who does not like Tulips, if you have not grown Tulips before you are going to find, they are very easy to grow, but they are a little bit 'faffy' (if faffy is a word? Faffy: Time-consuming or awkward; too complicated or fancy.).

Unfortunately, Tulips have a short flowering time and once they have flowered, it is best practice to 'lift' the bulbs, clean them and store them, ready for next Autumn. For full growing instructions How to Grow Tulips.

This lovely rich looking tulip flower is deep claret-red in colour, reminiscent of a glass of claret-wine. The fine classic globular-shape tulip emerges from mid-green stems with long sword-shaped leaves. This will make an excellent cut-flower for your vases and floral arrangements.

Tulip bulbs need to be planted in late summer or early autumn. They grow well in any moist well-drained soil, and usually best in a nice sunny position. Try to pick an area where they will be sheltered from the cold UK winter winds. These bulbs are best planted at 15cm deep and 13cm apart.

When the flowers begin to fade, dead-head the tulips but let the stems and leave remain until summer. This will ensure that the bulbs are fed for next year and kept healthy.

Culinary note: SOME parts of these flowers are edible. However, some people can have allergic reactions to Tulip flowers. If you touch them and they cause a rash or numbness, then tulip flowers shouldn’t be eaten as they could be toxic.

Plant tulip bulbs in late summer or autumn. Tulips will grow well in any moist, well drained soil, except for particularly wet soils. Choose a sunny position that is sheltered from strong winds. When planting tulip bulbs avoid shallow planting as this may reduce the winter cold period that is essential for tulip bulbs to produce flowers in spring. Plant them at a depth of 15cm (6") and at a distance of 13cm (5") apart.

After flowering, deadhead the faded tulip flowers and allow the foliage to die back completely before removing it in summer. Caution: Tulip bulbs are an irritant to skin and eyes, and are harmful if eaten.
